The stars of the show

Introducing head shots of the stars of the (hopefully) wonderful story you're about to see being created on this page:

the main character - Justin, a 14-year old an introverted sort, who like many characters in coming-of-age-stories, undergoes a transformation:

And here's Maya, in many ways Justin's opposite, who enjoys engaging with the world. She's a little crazy, but in the ways a lot of twelve year old girls are.

Not as satisfied with this head - not sure if she looks twelve. Also, going to darken the hair, to clarify that she is hispanic and give more weight to her overall composition. I have to fall in love with this character if I expect my readers to as well.

Surprisingly, the sketch of Maya looks a lot better in my notebook than the former of Justin. That's one of the reasons why you need to do finished work in this beginning stage - a cartoonist can fall into the trap of drawing something that doesn't lend itself to inking if you don't give your sketch the necessary "reality check.".

These colors are just experiments - I'm probably going to go with something much more conservative, most likely black and one (or maybe...two) color(s).

I might show some sketches tomorrow, just to prove that I'm doing considerably more than I'm showing you!

music - new order, clipse, old nirvana, Ironman
