ComicCon here I come...

So next weekend is the New York ComicCon! Don't bother looking for tickets - they're all sold out!

I'll be talking to my friend Matt at the Oni Press table, and hanging out with the mysterious Juan Doe Saturday night. I'm gonna do the Marvel Portfolio review, and I'm also planning on attending any number of panels - specifically, I wanted to target people at Archie Comics, to see if I can get a job there. I've been doing some sketches lately - we'll see what they have to say...

Some of you may remember me referencing Archie in an old Terrell Quimby comic?

I was talking to Matt last night and he told me I ought to stick to my guns - Archie doesn't pay that well and you're better suited working on your own stuff anyways. It's a good point. Still - I'm intrigued. The hardest part of working on my own book is the long waits between putting the issues out. Also, the audience right now is pretty small - I want to reach more people.

But speaking of Consumed, I have some new pages here - I really like the action in the second page. Fast moving, and it incorporates icons and symbols to tell a story - we see comics in our day to day life all the time (what else is a traffic light, except a sequence of images we implicitly understand the meaning of?) so its only natural to incorporate them into visual storytelling. The media guy in the first page is describing the biggest real estate deal in history - Optimum buying 11 public housing projects to convert them into mini storage units. Its only a matter of time people.

Feeling a little bit better about my art lately. I think I need to find a better support system, some people I've been spending a lot of time with lately don't really value my art.

I'll be getting ready for the con this week, so these'll be the last few pages in a while. I may post stuff from the con later in the week. Wish me luck!
